Business School Accreditation – What Does That Mean?
The strict quality standards of the Swiss Rectors’ Conference as well as the accreditation agencies EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA guarantee the international recognition of our degrees and executive education courses. In 2001, the University of St.Gallen became the first EQUIS-accredited business school in German-speaking Europe, in 2003, it was accredited by AACSB and in 2019 the University of St.Gallen was accredited by AMBA. These independent accreditation agencies issue the three most discerning seals of quality for business schools and create the framework for international standards. These internationally recognised accreditations honour the high quality which characterises our research and instruction and regularly secures the HSG a place among the frontrunners in business school rankings.
During an accreditation process, a university is systematically evaluated in terms of quality of research, instruction, training and administration. Independent experts also judge the role of the alumni network and the business school’s synergies with international partners and companies. However, internal factors are also taken into account: the organisation of the faculties, institutes and disciplines, as well as the diversity and quality of courses. Financial Times European Business School Ranking
The Financial Times Business School Ranking is the most important ranking of executive education programmes at European business schools. In the 2020 Financial Times Ranking of European business schools, the HSG was ranked 7th place among the best business schools – internationally.
The Master’s programme Strategy and International Management (SIM-HSG) is listed in first place in the Financial Times Ranking as the world’s best management major.
Moreover, our postgraduate executive education programmes occupy frontrunner positions in the Financial Times Ranking for business schools in Europe and worldwide. These include the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and high-quality Executive MBA programmes. In the current ranking of the world’s best executive MBA programmes, its full-time MBA ranked 18th and the Executive MBA ranked 20th (EMBA).
Wirtschafswoche ranked HSG first
The German “Wirtschaftswoche” has published its latest ranking of the most research-oriented business administration faculties in the German-speaking world. The University of St.Gallen with its School of Management is still in first place here in 2020.
