MBA students seek innovative developments for the digital future of SIX

The SIX Swiss Exchange, the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and digitalswitzerland invited MBA students from all over Europe to Zurich for the "Innovating in Finance MBA Competition 2019". Participants developed strategy proposals for the SIX Digital Exchange (SDX). As a prize CHF 5000 were awarded.
SIX Case Competition

In cooperation with the MBA HSG and the business organization digitalswitzerland, the SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) of the financial infrastructure operator SIX invited MBA students from all over Europe to Zurich last week. As part of the "Innovating in Finance MBA Competition 2019", participants had the task of developing a business model for an international SDX growth strategy. A jury of ten judged the 12 teams, comprised of four MBA students each, from business schools of five different countries. The judging panel included Martin Halblaub, CEO of SDX, Christian Thier, Head of Financial Services Industry at Microsoft, Daniel Diemer, Head of Blockchain at PWC and Tatjana de Kerros-Budkov, Head of Corporate Venturing at Ricola. The winning team was awarded CHF 5,000. The winner of the competition was WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. The teams from HEC Paris and ESSEC Business School also made the finals.

"This is the best example where theory meets practice", explains Ewa Maciejewski, head of programmes at the University of St.Gallen MBA, and continues: "In the MBA programme of the University of St.Gallen, the knowledge learned from our courses is to be directly implemented into real business impacts. Our students benefit greatly from this real world experience and can make direct contact with the Fintech industry."
