Manuel Ammann is Professor of Finance and Director of the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen. Previously, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California at Berkeley and an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Gallen. His main research interests are in the areas of derivative securities, asset management, financial markets, and risk management. Professor Ammann is editor-in-chief of the journal Financial Markets and Portfolio Management and serves as a director and trustee to several companies and foundations.
At the University of St. Gallen, Professor Ammann teaches Theory of Financial Markets, Derivative Securities, Financial Modelling, Capital Markets, among other courses at undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. He is the academic director of the Master of Arts programme in Banking and Finance.
Professor Ammann received a Ph.D. from the University of St. Gallen and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada, and was a postdoctoral fellow in finance at New York University.
